Abstract:
By applying a new computational multi-component method for the modelling of dust grain processing to a protostellar accretion shock we gain insight on the exact evolution of the grain size distribution function in the postshock region, where various processes act size-dependently on the grains.

Synthetic brightness profiles resulting from consistent dynamical models for circumstellar dust shells around long-period variables are presented and discussed with respect to a corresponding observation of IRC+10216.
