About the Zentrum
The Zentrum für Astronomie und Astrophysik at the Technische Universität Berlin (University of Technology Berlin) is the only institute of that kind in Berlin. Whereas the research is concentrated at the University of Technology, the institute offers a broad teaching of astronomy and astrophysics at all universities in Berlin (Freie Universität (FU), Humboldt Universität (HU), Technische Universität (TU)). Students may study astronomy and astrophysics as a subsidiary or a optional compulsory subject. They can also work at their diploma or doctoral theses.
For the practical training in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics, the institute has a 20cm refractor at one's disposal situated on top of the new physics building of the University of Technology.
