Content:
MHD, Vlasov theory, plasma-waves, instabilities, magnetic field formation, dynamo theory, cosmic rays, transport theory, galactic magnetic fields, particle-in-cell simulations, Monte Carlo simulations.
Conditions:
Basic knowledge in Physics and Mathematics. Knowledge of the physics / B.Sc. Module Grundlagen der Astronomie und Astrophysik advised
Performance:
Two-hour lecture with two-hour exercise.
Target group:
Postgraduate lecture on astronomy and astrophysics. Advanced lecture of the module Astronomy and Astrophysics (Physics/Master). Open also for all students with interest in astronomy and astrophysics.

Die Lehrveranstaltung besteht aus 2 SWS Vorlesung (Do 14 - 16 Uhr), ergänzt durch 2 SWS Übungen (Di 14 - 16 Uhr).

Die Vorlesung dient dazu, anhand von grundlegenden Methoden und aktuellen Forschungsthemen die Verbindungsbereiche der beiden Gebiete theoretische Astrophysik und Plasmaphysik kennenzulernen.
