Sprache: Englisch/Deutsch

Inhalt:

Theoretical concepts of parallelization using openMP and MPI are discussed. Hands-on programming exercises related to plasma physics are offered. Furthermore, important methods and concepts for the numerical treatment of plasma physics systems are presented, such as the treatment of Riemann problems, collisions or turbulence.

Voraussetzungen:

Basic knowledge in physics and mathematics.

Art der Durchführung:

Vierstündige integrierte Lehrveranstaltung.

Zielgruppe:

Students in MSc Physics interested in numerics and plasma-astrophysics, as well as MSc students from other disciplines.

Anmerkung:

The ability to program in either Fortran 90 (or newer) or C/C++ is a prerequisite. Students are encouraged to bring their own (charged) laptops. They also have the possibility to use the computers at the Physics PC-Pool.

Having completed the module Grundkurs der Plasmaphysik and/or the MSc module Nichtlineare Plasmaphysik is a plus but not mandatory.
