Building blocks of galaxie clusters (Galaxies, gas, dark matter); optical and X-ray properties; evolution of galaxies; formation of structures; determination of mass; self similar relations; galaxie clusters in view of cosmology.
Conditions:
Knowledge of physics and mathematics, and of the Physics/B.Sc. module Einführung in die Astronomie und Astrophysik advised.
Performance:
Biweekly two-hour lecture (1 SWS)
Target group:
Advanced lecture in the MSc (Physics) Programme. Open for all students with interest in astronomy and astrophysics.
Note:
This lecture will be supplemented by exercises. Participation optional.
