Unknown Worlds: Distant planets between imagination and science

Since the 17th century, people have fantasised in images and texts about the conquest of space and encounters with alien life forms. What role do such imaginings and creative visualisations play in today’s science and research? And conversely, the question: How will these imaginations change under the influence of the latest scientific findings?

Our SPP 1992 coordinator Heike Rauer, Director of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Planetary Research Berlin, will be there.
