Optical and infrared astronomy. Modern observing techniques (CCD, EMCCD, other detectors). Photometry, polarimetry, interferometry in details. Basic spectroscopy. Data reduction, standard transformation. Light curve analysis of transiting planets and eclipsing binary stars. Stellar parameters; extraction of information from photometry. Astronomical databases.
Conditions:
Knowledge of physics and mathematics, and of the Physics/B.Sc. module Einführung in die Astronomie und Astrophysik advised.

Target group:
Wählbare begleitende Vorlesung als Teil des Moduls Astronomie und Astrophysik im Master-Studiengang. Hinweis: Das Modul erfordert zusätzlich eine weitere begleitende Vorlesung sowie einen astrophysikalischen Praktikumsschein. ECTS: 12 Leistungspunkte für das Gesamtmodul. Sonstige Studierende mit Interesse an Astronomie und Astrophysik.
