Computational Astrophysics practical course

Content:

Numerical methods for solving astrophysical problems in hydrodynamics, stellar dynamics, cosmic rays or dust physics related to current research at the Zentrum für Astronomie und Astrophysik. Students will write small programs as well as work with existing programs (written in C/C++ and FORTRAN).

Conditions:

Programming knowledge is required to participate in this course. Knowledge of the Physics / B.Sc. Module (Grundlagen der Astronomie und Astrophysik) advised.

Performance:

Four-hour practical course. Teamwork (small groups) on different astronomical topics.

Target group:

Postgraduate practical course on astronomy and astrophysics. Practical part of the module Astronomy and Astrophysics (Physics/Master). One can choose - if possible - between the Astrophysical practical course and Astrophysical practical course (Astronomy and spectroscopy).
Open also for all students with interest in astronomy and astrophysics.

Note:

Begrenzte Anzahl der Praktikumsplätze! Die Praktikumsplätze werden in Reihenfolge der Anmeldung vergeben. Anmeldung ab 01.04.2012 bis 13.04.2012 bei numerikum@astro.physik.tu-berlin.de mit Angabe des Termins (Numerikum, Mo 16 - 20 Uhr). Das Praktikum findet in EW 176 / EW 177 statt (institutseigene Räume).
