Astrophysical practical course (Astronomy and spectroscopy)

Content:

Different astronomical topics especially related to observations with CCD cameras and astronomical spectroscopy: observations of stars and planets, CCD images, photometry, spectroscopy, astronomical data reduction.

Conditions:

Knowledge of the Physics/B.Sc. module Einführung in die Astronomie und Astrophysik advised.

Performance:

Four-hour practical course. Teamwork (small groups) on different astronomical topics.
The students are executing the study exercises at starry nights until 2011-03-31.

Target group:

Postgraduate practical course on astronomy and astrophysics. Practical part of the module Advanced Astronomy and Astrophysics (Physics/Master). One can choose - if possible - between the PR Astrophysical practical course and PR Astronomy and spectroscopy.
Open also for all students with interest in astronomy and astrophysics.

Note:

Empowering to participate is limited and is done in sequence of registration!
Please send for registration an e-mail to praktikum-2@astro.physik.tu-berlin.de specifying the name and the time of the practical course (Praktikum II, Mon 16-20).

Miscellaneous:

Constitutes a module for the Master course only together with two accompanying lectures, in the winter semester 20363 Physics of Planets, 20391 Solar System Dynamics, Hydrodynamics and Star Formation and Young Stars. Accompanying lectures can be taken in the same or in subsequent semesters.
